Programme

The conference will bring together nationally acclaimed experts with a wealth of experience in culture, regeneration, placemaking, meanwhile opportunities, and wellbeing. Participants will be given tools and evidence to help embed cultural policy within their work and to take a persuasive & practical argument to their organisations and the event will launch a brand new visioning document that delegates can use.

9.30 – registration and networking
10.00 – welcome, introduction from conference Chair (David Barrie), context overview of culture in regeneration
10.30 – What made Creative Places unique?  What have we learned during the programme, and what lessons can others take from it? Richard Russell, director, strategic partnerships, Arts Council England.
10.50 – Questions and discussion
11.00 – participative workshops, themed by Enterprise / Wellbeing / Masterplanning (delegates may attend one morning and one afternoon workshop). Full workshop information here
12.15 – lunch
13.15 –does Beauty matter in the Big Society? Matt Bell, director of education and external affairs, CABE. Matt will discuss what beauty means to people, why it matters in an age of austerity and how people can be involved in shaping the places they live.

15.00 – break for networking and informal discussion
15.15 – Can we afford culture? What tools and evidence can delegates take away to help embed culture in their work? Panel discussion and rapid fire questions and answers. Miranda Plowden, Richard Russell, Paul Squires, Emily Berwyn, Matt Bell.
15.45 – conclusions and the cultural manifesto
16.00 – masterclass ends
